FAQs

Where do you get your bikes?

All the bikes in our inventory have been donated. We are thankful for the generosity of corporations, government agencies, transportation organizations, police departments, universities, and individuals like you!

CCofCA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and we are happy to provide a receipt for any donation. Our EIN is 82-2949587.

What exactly do you do to the bikes?

Each bike undergoes a 60-point function, safety and quality check, replacing any parts as needed, and then we clean the bike and shine it up for you. We believe every bike that goes through our shop, no matter the price point or destination, should be safe, reliable and function as new. We guarantee our work with a two-month warranty.

Where can I buy a bike or get mine serviced?

You may purchase bikes and new accessories on our website or and you can visit our warehouse and service department at 35 Wilson Avenue, San Jose, CA 95124. Hours may vary by season, so check the website for the most up-to-date information.

Are you a full-service bike shop?

Yes! Some of our most popular services can be found on the Service page. For any other repair needs or prices, call, email or stop in to make an appointment.

What type of bikes do you sell?

We have all types of bikes! We have a variety of styles (mountain, road, commuter, etc.), ages (vintage to new), and sizes (child to adult). We even get tricycles and electric bikes.

Our inventory changes weekly, sometimes daily(!) so check back often.

Do you sell new bikes?

New bikes are not our business model. Quality refurbished bikes is what we do best. With that said, we do occasionally receive new bikes as donations from corporate team builds or holiday donations.

How much do your bikes cost?

The median price range is $250; however, we sometimes receive new, high-end or unique, classic bikes that can be in the thousands of dollars. Children’s bikes usually range $35-$100.

Bikes priced below $150 are generally set aside as Community Bikes- bikes we grant to those in need through our nonprofit partners or through our Earn-a-Bike program.

How do you price a bike?

Bikes are priced on a combination of market value and cost of refurbishing (parts and labor). Additionally, $25 of each bicycle helps pay for the cost of refurbishing a bicycle that we grant to someone in need.

Our bikes are priced similarly to other used bike shops. You may find less expensive bikes in online marketplaces, but you can be sure that when you're purchasing a bike with us that it has been completely refurbished and comes with a warranty.

Can I trade in or sell you my old bike when buying one of yours?

As a policy we do not trade in or purchase bikes. We do not want to be part of taking in a bike if there is a possibility it has been stolen. We are, of course, happy to accept your bike as a donation.

Let us know if you have any questions we haven't covered!
