Interesting fact, the Dawes factory made bikes for the armed services during the war and supported British racing cyclists over the years both on and off-road.

Dawes apparently made several models constructed from the coveted Reynolds 531 Double-Butted alloy-steel tubing (look for "Reynolds 531" on Wikipedia for the full story); unfortunately this one's model name has disappeared from the frame (all we can see is the faded "Hand built" insignia on the down tube).
